Fraggle Rock™: Supporting Character Bios

Gobo

Gobo is the natural leader of the Fraggle Five. He is an explorer, spending his days charting the unexplored and explored-butforgotten regions of Fraggle Rock. Following, often quite literally, in the footsteps of his Uncle, Traveling Matt. Gobo is extremely brave - he is the only Fraggle (besides Matt) who has ever entered Doc's
workshop and risked the jaws of Sprocket. He is highly respected by the other Fraggles, although he can be a little pompous and egocentric, making it hard for him to admit mistakes. Gobo is a leader who often provides his friends with direction, but since he is a Fraggle, it is often a fairly silly one.

Red

Red Fraggle is a nonstop whirlgig of activity. She is outgoing, enthusiastic, and athletic. To her fellow Fraggles, Red is seen as a flash of crimson racing to her next athletic pursuit. She is Fraggle Rock champion in Tug-of-Tails, Diving-while-Singing-Backwards, the Blindfolded One-Legged-Radish-Relay and a number of other traditional Fraggle sports.

Mokey

Mokey is an artist, poet and philosopher. Her job is to brave the Gorgs' garden and collect the radishes that the Fraggles eat. She seems to be in touch with some sort of higher Fraggle consciousness.

Mokey is fascinated by the beauty and intricacy of the world around her, and is always seeking new ways to share this feeling with others. Like all Fraggles, Mokey can get a little carried away - a dab of paint to cover a crack in the wall can lead easily to an epic mural. Also, her dogooding nature can sometimes get her into trouble. But her oblique, holistic insights are unique in Fraggledom and enable her to come up with very creative solutions to some sticky problems.

Wembley

To Wemble is a Fragglish word that means "to be so unable to make up one's mind that it's ridiculous." Wembley is indecision personified. He has an uncanny ability to find merit on both sides of any issue. This talent
occasionally casts him in the role of peacemaker. He is completely incapable of doing anything dishonest - no matter what - and he is steadfast in his admiration for his best friend and roommate, Gobo. It was Gobo who encouraged Wembley to apply for his job with the Fraggle Rock Volunteer Fire Department; Wembley is the siren.

Boober

According to Boober Fraggle, there are only two things certain in this world: death and laundry. Boober is terrified by the former and fascinated by the latter. He is also paranoid and superstitious. According to Boober, anything that can go wrong surely will, and when it does, it will inevitably happen to him. Boober denies that he is a hypochondriac; he claims he is just practicing the symptoms because he's bound to get the diseases. Boober's negative attitude has a big plus - he can see real trouble coming a mile away, a useful attribute in a land of eternal optimists.

Gobo's Uncle, Traveling Matt

Gobo's Uncle, Traveling Matt is the greatest living Fraggle explorer - the Fraggle equivalent of an astronaut. After completing his exploration of Fraggle Rock, he ventured forth into our world, a place the Fraggles call "Outer Space" and sends his observations back to Gobo on postcards in care of Doc.

Matt looks at our world through Fragglish eyes and often has different interpretations of what he sees than we do. Upon noticing a parking meter, for example, he might write to Gobo about "the sidewalk creatures who eat round shiny food and then stick their little red tongues up for more."

The Doozers

Totally unlike the Fraggles, Doozers spend their lives working. The greatest joy in a Doozer's life is to get up, put on a hard hat and take a place on the Doozer work crew. Doozers mine radishes (and occasionally other vegetables) from the Gorgs' garden and make "Doozer sticks" with them, with which they build elaborate crystalline "Doozer constructions" throughout Fraggle Rock.

The Fraggles are all too happy to eat them up. This pleases the Doozers immensely, since it allows them more room to build. Fraggles may think Doozers are indistinguishable, but this isn't so. Each Doozer has a unique set of skills, knowledge, and Doozer dreams. Two prominent Doozers are the Architect, who oversees the construction of Doozer designs and Cotterpin Doozer, whose rebelliousness and vision have won her a place as the Architect's apprentice.

Junior Gorg

Sweet, loveable galumphing Junior is the apple of his mother's eye and the bane of the Fraggles' existence. All he wants to do is "get those Fwaggles" out of his precious garden as they raid for the vegetables (particularly the radishes).

The Fraggles are never in too much danger of Junior because he isn't very bright or coordinated and he really wouldn't hurt a fly.

Ma Gorg

In her role as "queen of the universe," Ma is the guardian of Gorgish tradition and manners, striving to keep her family up to regal snuff. She expects royal delegations to visit at any moment and is always prepared by having the house clean (at least by Gorg standards) and elaborate diplomatic rituals at the ready.

She adores Pa and is an indulgent mother to Junior. She is terrified of only one thing- Fraggles- whom she regards as some sort of vermin.

Pa Gorg

Pa Gorg considers himself to be the "king of the universe," with a kingdom full of Gorgs who owe him allegiance - despite the fact that he hasn't seen another Gorg (except the members of his immediate family) in eons. Pa has an extremely sweet and romantic attachment to Ma.

His feelings about Junior, however, are a little more complicated. He loves his son but doesn't think he is very bright. On the other hand, neither is he (but he doesn't know that).

Doc & Sproket

Doc, the man who inhabits the workshop that contains the hole in the baseboard that leads to Fraggle Rock, is an inventor and a tinkerer. If it's impractical, elaborate, and a bit odd, Doc has probably already invented it. His contraptions often look Rube Goldberg-ish in the extreme, and include things from automatic dog feeds (his dog Sprocket, encouraged him to invent that one) to elaborate burglar alarm systems that are more likely to
trap him than any burglar. Doc doesn't know about the Fraggles.

Sprocket might be considered Doc's dog; on the other hand, Doc might be considered Sprocket's person. Sprocket is an extremely intelligent and expressive dog, who lives at the workshop full-time.
