Roary the Racing Car: Supporting Character Bios

THE RACING CREW

Big Chris

Big Chris is the chief mechanic and father figure to all the cars. Despite being a genius mechanic, he is very disorganized and forgetful but at his happiest when wielding a monkey-wrench or sponge and rummaging in his treasure chest of a tool box. Big Chris has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things mechanical, but his other passion is singing. He sings anywhere at anytime which drives his boss, Mr. Carburettor crazy. Whenever Big Chris leaves his beloved workshop he shouts, "You bend it!" to which everyone within ear shot replies, "You mend it!"

Maxi

Maxi is an Italian, F1 racing car. A macho superstar, a bit of a prima-donna because he's the fastest, loudest, most refined and expensive car at the circuit. Maxi has expensive tastes and demands star treatment, but unfortunately, for Maxi, his thoroughbred oil-line means that he's the most easily damaged car at Silver Hatch, and he's constantly breaking down, both mechanically and emotionally.

Tin Top

Tin Top is American...a big, blue, 'NASCAR-style' race car. Tin Top is rough, tough and accident-prone! He relishes a 'dust em up', bruising race, which means he is often dragging parts of his flapping bodywork around or returning to the workshop with bits missing and smoke billowing from a bent wheel arch. He can take it!

Zizzy

Zizzy is a little French stunt car. She is the smallest car at Silver Hatch and is a 'hybrid' car running on both fuel and a solar powered battery. Zizzy is cute, excitable, giggly and she loves driving fast! She is daring and fearless, often performing stunts and maneuvers that leave the boys gasping and (secretly) full of admiration. Roary™ has a big crush on Zizzy, which is not returned. She thinks of Roary™ as a 'brother' but 'swoons' whenever she is in the presence off her hero, the fabulous, Maxi.

Marsha

Marsha is Chief Marshall and General Manager of Silver Hatch and, it has to be said, a little bit of a bossy-pants! Resplendent in her orange overalls, trademark pink cap and always armed with walkie-talkie's, Marsha's a meticulous planner, a whiz with the colored flags and has a great eye for detail. Not much goes wrong when Marsha's around. She's Mr. Carburettor's right-hand woman, and tries to ensure the smooth running of the place. One of her favorite sayings is "Gears to go, brakes to slow."

Dragga

Dragga is a hot-hatch production street car from the Far East. He has a metallic orange paint finish, blue-neon under-lighting and a rocket powered reserve booster. Dragga is very intelligent and philosophical...he uses his on-board computer to analyze every problem or question that comes his way. When he uses his rocket powered reserve booster to 'fire it up and let it rip', the other cars don't know what's hit them...or passed them. However, Dragga's power-boost can only work in short bursts so he still can't beat Maxi when Maxi is in top form.

Hellie

Hellie is a small, compact and dizzy helicopter. He is good at obeying orders and happily takes Mr. Carburettor places, but left to his own devices he is a bit clueless, though totally endearing.

Furz

Furz is a funny, mischievous rabbit. He wears a racing suit and lives at 'Hare-Pin Bend', alongside the racetrack, beneath a tree, in his underground burrow. Furz loves to race the cars around, longing to be part of the racing circuit crowd on his motorized skateboard and sometimes on foot. He doesn't like losing, so he dreams up wacky and dastardly ways to slow the others down (putting up detour signs, digging holes, scattering tin-tacks, etc). Furz is a loveable nuisance.

Trucksy

Trucksy is Farmer Green's 1950's style flat bed truck. Hard working and eager to please, this friendly vehicle is always messy and is in desperate need of a service. He loves to carry Farmer Green's organic fruit and vegetables, hay bales, and odds and ends around Silver Hatch Farm.

Mr. Carburettor

Mr. Carburettor is the mega-rich owner of Silver Hatch. He often visits to keep an eye on his racetrack and to check that the cars are all performing well. He is on the shorter side and vainly wears built-up shoes in an attempt to look powerful. When Mr. Carburettor says 'jump' everyone 'jumps' -- even the cars -- but sometimes Mr. Carburettor is in a great mood and then he uses his loud voice to sing 'opera' which echoes all around Silver Hatch!

Molecom

Molecom is the helpful but bungling handyman of Silver Hatch. He is older than Flash and hopelessly short-sighted, which makes for many comedic moments (handing Big Chris a "banana" instead of a "spanner," etc). He turns up in the oddest places at the wrong time - like burrowing up under Big Chris's duvet cover...!

Rusty

Rusty is a small ageing caravan located next to the Workshop. He is white with rust patches and perched on bricks as he lost his wheels a long time ago. Rusty serves as Big Chris's office and bedroom. He spends most of his time asleep, no doubt dreaming about the 'good old days' when he had his wheels.

Lugga

Lugga is a cool, colorful 4x4; a go-anywhere, off-road vehicle, so-called because he is the ultimate mud plugger; no conditions or terrain can stop him. He lives in a lean-to shed, adjacent to the workshop. Lugga is very chilled and easy going, and he is hugely proud of his 'ICE' (in car entertainment) that booms out music from his chunky, dial-filled, cab. Big Chris travels around Silver Hatch by jumping onto Lugga's running board and charging into action. Big Chris can contact Lugga by calling him on his 'Lugga button' walkie-talkie.

Zippee

Zippee is the only two-wheeled vehicle at Silver Hatch. Zippee doesn't talk but has her own 'beep beep' language. She is always ready and willing to take Marsha wherever she needs to go. When she isn't transporting Marsha, Zippee enjoys herself by buzzing around Silver Hatch, running errands or playing with Roary™ and the gang.

Farmer Green

Blessed with red cheeks, nose and a cheerful disposition, Farmer Green lives at Silver Hatch Farm. He provides everything Big Chris and his gang needs, including freshly grown organic fruit and vegetables, tires, oil and spare parts, such as antiques and bric-a-brac of every description. He loves spending time creating environmentally friendly bio-fuel concoctions for Big Chris to use on the cars.
