Fireman Sam™, the Ultimate Hero Next Door, has been racing to the rescue of his friends and colleagues in all sorts of perilous situations since he first made his UK TV debut in 1986. Based in the pleasant Welsh village of Pontypandy, Fireman Sam is a pillar of the community and the hero of every rescue. Whether stuck on a high cliff-face or caught in an underground cave, the children of Pontypandy know help is always close at hand -- thanks to the brave and resourceful Fireman Sam. Fireman Sam airs on Sprout in the US.
The Hero Next Door
Heroic, resourceful and calm in a crisis, Fireman Sam is a pillar of the community and the hero of many rescues. Sam lives alone in a fully-automated home that allows him to get washed, dressed and ready for work in seven seconds flat.
Sam is a born inventor who spends much of his spare time tinkering in his inventing shed. Although his inventions don't always live up to his expectations, nothing can dampen his enthusiasm. Everyone in Pontypandy knows that nothing is too much trouble for Fireman Sam. "Leave it with me, I'll see what I can do." is his reply to the many requests for his help. Sam is renowned for keeping a cool head in a hot spot. It's only when he's really surprised that he exclaims "Great Fires of London!" Sam is a kind and attentive uncle to Sarah and James who idolise him. Sam drives "Jupiter" the fire engine, which is the pride of the Pontypandy Fire Service.
