Angelina Ballerina is a little star with big dreams of becoming a prima ballerina. This feisty little mouse works hard to reach her goal and along the way, always learns from her mistakes. When little girls share in Angelina's experiences, they're inspired to go after their big dreams too. In addition to the critically acclaimed story books created by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig, Angelina Ballerina dances her way into the hearts of young girls weekly on PBS KIDS®.
Henry
Henry is Angelina's younger cousin. With his long whiskers, plump little belly, big blue eyes and innocent demeanour, Henry's sweet appearance captures grownup hearts without even trying -- much to the frustration and occasional jealousy of Angelina!
Henry is an expressive little mouse who idolizes Angelina and loves to spend time with her and her friends. While Angelina loves Henry, he sometimes gets in the way.
Like many young children, Henry hasn't quite mastered social graces and will often resort to the time-proven technique of sheer annoyance in order to get Angelina's attention -- which often causes frustration.
Alice
Alice Nimbletoe is Angelina's best friend. A comical character with a heart of gold, Alice is always willing and eager to embark on another one of Angelina's adventures.
Alice also attends Miss Lilly's ballet school -- although she sometimes forgets her steps, not to mention her entrances and exits! She has a contagious giggle and the silliest things can throw her into fits of uncontrollable laughter, usually resulting in a bad case of the hiccups!
Miss Lilly
Miss Lilly is Angelina's hero and mentor. A primballerina in her day, Miss Lilly has devoted herself to teaching children how to dance, how to move and how to live! To Miss Lilly, dance is life and life is dance: there is no greater journey one could possibly take, than in a pair of satin ballet slippers.
Miss Lilly loves all her students, but it is obvious that Angelina is her favorite. Angelina reminds Miss Lilly herself when she was younger -- such passion! Such enthusiasm! Miss Lilly is quite flamboyant and moves through her day as if she were constantly on stage. She and Angelina share both a deep love of dance, and most importantly, an unquenchable zest for life.
Mrs. Mouseling
Matilda Mouseling is Angelina's mother and anchor. She provides both the voice of reason and the loving arms that Angelina so often needs.
Mrs. Mouseling is kind and loving. She is patient, good-natured and goes through her day whistling a happy tune or singing...completely off key! She does have her moments and can become quite stern when pushed to her limits.
Mrs. Mouseling is proud of her daughter and always supports her. She will often take time from her busy day to sew a 'fidgety' Angelina an elaborate costume for an upcoming performance.
Mr. Mouseling
Maurice Mouseling is Angelina's loving father. Whether it's running through the house with a squealing Angelina atop his shoulders, or sneaking into the kitchen with her for a midnight snack of strawberry ice cream, Mr. Mouseling is always around, enjoying special moments with his daughter.
Mr. Mouseling is the proud proprietor of the "Mouseland Gazette" and has his 'paw' on the pulse things. He reports the news of the village and is always up-to-date on the latest events. He loves a good joke, loves to play checkers, but most of all, loves his family!
William
William is a sweet mouse from school who also attends dance classes with Angelina and Alice. He is shy and has a tendency to mix up his words when he gets nervous...which is usually around Angelina, because he has a crush on her and thinks she is wonderful. William is usually cast in comical roles, like a 'palm tree', not because he is a good dancer, but because he stands out from the rest.
Sammy
Sammy is a naughty, slightly older mouse from Angelina's school who is usually up to some sort of mischief. He loves to play tricks on both the kids and adults in the village, and is usually the one to blame when bicycle tire tracks are foundrunning through Mrs. Hodgepodge's flowerbed. Sammy often tries to get the better of Angelina, but one way or another she finds a clever way to teach him a lesson.
Priscilla and Penelope Pinkpaw
Priscilla and Penelope are twin sisters who attend Miss Lilly's ballet school. With their toes turned out, they walk down the street, arm in arm, wearing the most perfect (and always matching) outfits.
Priscilla and Penelope are spoiled and are a constant source of frustration for Angelina. To most adults they appear to be the most well-mannered little mice in the Village, but the truth is, they are jealous and, although they are talented, the twins lack Angelina's passion and determination.
Grandma and Grandpa
Grandma and Grandpa live in the next village and come to visit from time to time, either for a family celebration, or simply to take their granddaughter out to the park or for a fancy cream tea. Grandma loves Angelina, but tends to be a bit gruff -- always insisting on good table manners and "lady-like behavior".
Grandpa, on the other hand, is an old softie with gentle voice and a warm smile. An old war hero, Grandpa is forever telling stories that Angelina loves to hear.
Mrs. Hodgepodge
Mrs. Hodgepodge is the crabby next-door neighbor who doesn't like children, doesn't like noise, and definitely does NOT like dancing! She thinks it's a barbaric pastime, and one that should definitely not be allowed on public property such as a sidewalk, park or playground -- all the places that Angelina happens to love. Angelina tries to avoid Mrs. Hodgepodge, but can't help but run into her from time to time. To make matters worse, it always seems to be at the worst occasions: when Angelina's just broken something or accidentally done something wrong.
Polly
Polly is Angelina's baby sister. She is cute as a button and turns Angelina's world upside down in both wonderful and trying ways, helping her to discover what it means to be a 'big sister'.
