Julia Pistor, Head of HIT Movies, HIT Entertainment, has more than 22 years of experience in television and movie production. In her current role, Ms. Pistor heads-up HIT Entertainment's new movie division and runs HIT's Los Angeles office. The goal of HIT's movie division is to develop family film franchises based on HIT's iconic characters, including Angelina Ballerina™, Barney™, Bob the Builder™, Rainbow Magic™ and Thomas & Friends™. Additionally, Ms. Pistor is charged with identifying and developing new HIT characters and stories for the big screen.
Previously, Ms. Pistor served as a senior executive within Viacom Enterprises for the past 16 years, building a number of lucrative television and film enterprises for the company as well as successfully extending the Nickelodeon brand into a leading family film division for MTV Networks and Paramount Pictures. Most recently, Ms. Pistor served as Executive Vice President of Nickelodeon Movies, where she developed, produced and oversaw the cross-platform marketing of 16 movies that grossed more than $1 billion combined at the box office. She also led the division to use movies to help drive non-theatrical lines of business for both Nickelodeon and Paramount (TV, video, wireless, games, etc.).
During her 11-year tenure at Nickelodeon Movies, Ms. Pistor oversaw the development, production, and release of an impressive slate of live-action and animation features released through Paramount Pictures. She was instrumental in creating the nimble, cost effective and talent-driven feature animation model which resulted in a string of profitable movies including Rugrats, and the Academy Award nominated CGI film, Jimmy Neutron. Ms. Pistor produced the 2006 hit Nacho Libre, starring Jack Black as well as the live-action films Charlotte's Web, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events and The Spiderwick Chronicles.
Prior to her role at Nickelodeon Movies, Ms. Pistor served as head of production for Viacom Syndication, where she developed and oversaw the Montel Williams Show and produced the first run show Superboy. Previous to Viacom, Ms. Pistor was a producer for the award winning PBS series Reading Rainbow.
Most recently, Ms. Pistor founded an independent production and consulting company, Pistor Production, that creates and advises on all forms of content across all platforms (TV, features, interactive, etc.). Her company has projects in active development at Cartoon Network, Walden Media Paramount Pictures and Fox 2000, including Firebreather, a TV Movie, the feature thriller The Adoration of Jenna Fox with director Brad Silberling, Captain Abdul's Pirate School with Karey Kirkpatrick and a feature based on Newberry Award winning author Kate DiCamillo's new book. She is an award-winning producer, and won a 2009 Golden Bear award from the Berlin Film Festival for her teen film, My Suicide.
Ms. Pistor received her BA from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and is a member of the Producers Guild.
